Position Title: Commercial Solutions Strategy Manager II

External Description:

SUMMARY: The Commercial Solutions Strategy Manager broadly focuses on pricing or writing as part of the Commercial Solutions team. They support the organization by partnering with the Commercial Operations team to manage tools, content, and initiatives related to pricing or writing. They engage business insight, data, and research to drive the creation, evaluation, and strategy of commercial tools, content, and initiatives. They also assist other areas of the organization as needed. This individual supports the analysis and resolution of business problems by working with internal and external sources, bringing expertise, leveraging internal subject matter experts, developing recommendations, and implementing solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • As they relate to pricing or writing, manage commercial tools, content, and initiatives, including working cross-functionally to help design and implement tool, content, and initiative improvements and changes
  • Perform ad hoc analyses, create content, or manage deliverables as requested from the Commercial Operations team or clients; for pricing, such deliverables may include inflation analyses, rate cards, and cash flow; for writing such deliverables may include content creation, layout and design, training, and style guide support
  • Independently drive and own assigned tasks and initiatives
  • Respond to routine and non-routine inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of commercial tools, content, and initiatives, and be able to develop new functions; for pricing this may include managing algorithm programming in various systems and implementing tool fixes in a timely manner; for writing this may include managing the commercial content database, maintaining the style guides, and aligning commercial content with the style guides
  • Drive commercial tool, content, and initiative improvements on a timely basis and otherwise maintain them (trouble shooting beyond general functions)
  • Resolve complex inquiries with minimal support or oversight
  • Interact with management to ensure essential information is accurate, complete, and integrated into the automated systems
  • Review and maintain metrics and content to ensure cross-therapeutic consistency
  • Perform other duties as assigned

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent analytical skills, oral and written communication, attention to detail, prioritization, self-motivation, and time management
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and changing environment, working independently or on a team, depending on the task
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
  • Ability to understand commercial development processes, business organization, functional areas, and commercial strategies
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite experience; for pricing, strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint and competence in analytical tools (PowerBI) and CRM (i.e., Salesforce) or similar programs preferred; for writing, strong skills in Word and PowerPoint and competence in document management tools and project management processes
    • For pricing, advanced programming skillset (manipulating complex files, designing/auditing algorithms, macros, etc.) a plus
    • For writing, editing background and knowledge of style guides a plus
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical and CRO industry a plus


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in relevant field
  • For pricing, experience with analyzing large data sets and characterizing information
  • For writing, experience editing content from diverse fields and understanding style guides
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills and strong commercial acumen
  • Ability to work in a high pressure and time-sensitive environment, including the ability to manage multiple issues on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational agility, negotiation skills, and demonstrated drive for results
  • Proven ability to build peer relationships and effective teams, with demonstrated global and cultural awareness
  • Minimum three years’ experience in pharmaceutical or CRO industries or similar preferred
  • For pricing, experience in a CRO or pharmaceutical company in a role requiring comprehensive understanding of sponsor or CRO business practices and advanced knowledge of operational and financial practices, with an ability to analyze and evaluate processes and procedures
  • For writing, experience in a CRO or pharmaceutical or similar company in a role requiring comprehensive understanding of style guides related to content editing and generation OR experience in an editing role requiring understanding of diverse areas of content and client relationship building
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
