What you will do
The Medical Laboratory Technician 2 independently performs a wide range of routine to complex medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for clinical research studies. Operates manual and automatic laboratory equipment to make qualitative and quantitative analyses of specimens; cleans and maintains standard laboratory equipment. Understands Quality Control, assists in preparation for regulatory agency inspections and audits, performs extra duties as necessary, able to perform job duties independently, troubleshooting instrumentation, communicates effectively with co-workers.
• Performs quality control to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents, and procedures.
• Studies blood cell numbers and morphology, and urine cellular elements using microscopic techniques.
• Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood and urine to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
• Follows the Clinical Laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient/subject test results
• Validates, calculates, and tabulates results of tests performed, posts findings to log books and quality control records, and makes reports of observations.
• Assists Senior Clinical Laboratory Manager in administrative functions of LIS necessary to satisfy the clinical laboratory requirements of study protocols including review of study protocols, set up of laboratory tests/panels, and preparation of the “Clinical Laboratory Manual.”

Your background
Associate degree from a community or junior college or a certificate from a hospital, a vocational or technical school, or one of the U.S. Armed Forces. Three or more years of experience in a Clinical laboratory in chemistry, hematology, and urinalysis.
Preferred: Certification as an MLT by a nationally recognized agency/board.
