Position Title: Director, Global Tax

External Description:

SUMMARY:       The Director, Global Tax is accountable for leading global tax reporting, compliance, research, and strategic tax planning activities.  This position ensures that the Company develops, implements, and maintains the requisite global tax strategies and positions to protect the Company’s assets in both domestic and international markets.  The Director, Global Tax manages the development and execution of effective tax strategies to enable and support a multi-jurisdiction operating model, collaboratring with buinsess stakeholders globally, while ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tasks may include but are not limited to:
 

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of domestic and international direct and indirect taxation including, but not limited to, calculation of tax provisions and liabilities, tax research, reporting, compliance, planning and strategy, policy, and budgeting.
  • Oversees preparation and performs final review of tax returns, extensions, audits, and estimated tax payments.
  • The position will work closely with the CFO, Global Controller, and the leadership team as a critical business partner to insure the management of the company's global tax position and minimization of tax liability and risk.
  • Manages tax from a strategic position, by proactively providing guidance to enable business development and growth, with a focus on legal entity structure and requirements.
  • Monitor and anticipate changes in international, federal, and state/local tax laws of importance to the organization, determine the impact of those changes on the organization, and recommend appropriate modifications to the organization’s procedures or operations in response to such changes.
  • Stays apprised of and implements tax best practices.
  • Ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place over accounting for income taxes.
  • Serve as the principal liaison with third party tax consultants on various tax matters as required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 

  • 12+ years of direct Tax experience.
  • Prior experience of the CRO or pharmaceutical sectors preferred.
  • Experience in a service business and working in a global organization is required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast paced and evolving organization.



REQUIREMENTS:
 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax, or an equivalent. Master’s Degree in Tax strongly preferred.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
  • Excellent consulting, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Global cultural orientation and working experience, with an understanding of foreign tax and financial operations.
  • Ability to create new and unique ideas and an entrepreneurial spirit a plus.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment and mature business skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including a professional and diplomatic demeanor.
  • Some global travel may be required.

Promotion to the next level is not automatic based on years of experience. Personnel are evaluated on proven competency, level of responsibility, and ability to work independently.
