Position Title: Senior Director Site Contracts

External Description:

The Senior Director, Site Contracts is responsible for the overall delivery, operational and financial performance of global Site Contracts across all therapeutic areas and customers. The jobholder is responsible for the development, review and execution of site contracts and associated processes to uphold national and international legal standards for clinical trials managed by Worldwide. This is a leadership role reporting to the Site Activation Head that may require attendance at governance meetings and other Sr Leadership level customer meetings.
 
Responsibilities and tasks may include but are not limited to:
 
Leadership and Operations:
 

  • Provide strategic leadership, promote expected behaviors and establish a culture within the Site Contracts group that is aligned with Worldwide Site Activation values and objectives
  • Accountable for the financial performance and operational delivery of the Site Contracts group
  • Responsible for the Site Contracts cost structure within the budget tool
  • Possess and apply advanced knowledge and experience with global (country/local) legal requirements related to site contract activities
  • Establish accountability for quality delivery, internal/external customer service, training, development, and innovation among the Site Contracts group
  • Develop and improve processes in collaboration with other colleagues and departments
  • Attends monthly project review meetings and customer portfolio meetings that result in trending improvement of site contracts delivery as measured by performance indicators
  • Establish continuous training and development of team members through internal formal training programs and peer-to-peer mentoring
  • Coordinate with Worldwide HR People Partners to support Site Contracts staff
  • Plan and manage resource planning according to financial indicators and capacity forecasts
  • Develop Site Contract SOPs, work instructions, forms and other departmental process documents in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • May represent or act as an ambassador/guest speaker for Site Activation at internal Worldwide meetings and presentations
  • Occasionally perform site contract “hands on” functional tasks within assigned therapeutic area when successful delivery depends upon it 

 
Customers

  • Manage and prevent internal and external site activation escalations related to site contracts
  • Advise customers on site contract issues, including local requirements
  • Partner with Worldwide functional areas to obtain and apply feedback for continuous process and quality improvements

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 

  • Demonstrated expertise in strategically leading customer focused multi-project/program teams resulting in positive customer relationships and repeat business
  • Demonstrated experience with effectively persuading internal and external customers and engaging in difficult conversations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and people in ambiguous and time-sensitive situations, e.g., when desired non-critical information is not available before the decision is required
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Experience with requirements and expectations of at least one cross-functional department such as Regulatory compliance, Feasibility, Site Management, Project Management, or Patient Recruitment is preferred
  • Interest and adaptability to drive innovative solutions for our customers such as with decentralized clinical trials, remote and local home healthcare models, and direct-to-patient technologies
  • Aptitude or proficiency in using and learning digital and software systems
     
    REQUIREMENTS:
  • University/college degree (life science preferred) or certification in a related allied health profession from an appropriately accredited institution (e.g., nursing certification, medical or laboratory or laboratory technology) or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of global clinical pharmaceutical industry experience including 7 years demonstrated skills and competency in management, including direct management of staff in a global environment
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire effective teamwork and motivate personnel within a matrix system
  • Experience in managing global teams and site contract activities
  • Available for domestic and international travel, including overnight stays
  • Valid passport
  • Fluent in local office language and in English, both written and verbal
  • Broad knowledge of drug development process
