Position Title: Grant Payables Accountant

External Description:

SUMMARY: Grant Payables Accountant will provide support to the Accounting Manager with:

• Updating and maintaining project databases, generating site payments relating to clinical trials
• Processing site payments for clinical trials and maintain the trial-specific cashbooks associated with these payments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tasks may include but are not limited to:

• Update and maintain project specific databases with information relating to the account requirements and to generate listings of payments as required
• Run database reports to monitor clinical trial progress
• Process site payments in a timely and accurate manner
• Update sponsor cashbooks with site payments, account transfers and other transactions
• Deal with site payment queries, liaising with the company bank and WCT departments as and when required
• Reconcile the clinical trial cashbooks to the bank accounts on a regular basis, investigating and resolving any discrepancies
• Update the site payment invoice folder with PDF copies of invoices received
• Assist as required with any ad hoc finance work
• Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with the jobholder’s level in the organization

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Excellent knowledge in the use of Excel, other professional software, databases, etc.
• Some knowledge of international banking processes and payments
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to appropriately interface with all levels of management.
• Good communication skills
• Be a self-starter and could use their initiative
• Work to a high degree of accuracy.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting.
• Minimum 3 years of experience on a same position in Accounting/Finance Department.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with accounts payable.
• English language: upper-Intermediate is a must (verbal and written communication).
• Strong interpersonal skills in a fast-paced, deadline oriented, and changing environment.

Promotion to the next level is not automatic based on years of experience. Personnel are evaluated on proven competency, level of responsibility, and ability to work independently.
