Position Title: Sales Development Account Manager

External Description:

SUMMARY:  The Level 2 Sales Development Account Manager plays a critical role in helping the organization achieve its customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives by engaging with prospective clients and internal stakeholders to build an effective new business pipeline, alongside colleagues and mentors. You will have mastered and sustained a high level of performance as a Level 2 Sales Development Account Manager and will be looking to take the next step in your career. In this role, you will receive foundational Business Development and/or Management training with continuous support by Commercial Leadership to help balance your Sales Development Account Manager responsibilities with your Business Development or Managerial learning and development responsibilities. As part of your continued learning and development, you may also be called upon to coach and mentor peers.
Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Partner with Marketing to understand and leverage their initiatives and Business Development to tackle territory targets and goals
  • Source new sales opportunities for your Business Development partners through inbound lead qualification and outbound prospecting
  • Continually maintain and expand your database/funnel of target accounts, prospects and opportunities within your territories
  • Achieve quarterly and annual lead generation goals as outlined in sales incentive comp plan
  • Engage and build rapport with prospects through call, email and social outreach activity
  • Understand customer needs and requirements through research, discovery and qualification and drive leads through the early stages of the sales process
  • Set appointments with new customer for your Business Development partner
  • Partner with your Business Development partners post meeting/call to determine results of such meetings and appropriate next steps to close the loop or move the opportunity forward
  • Co-manage sales territories and develop territory plans and a strategy with your Business Development partners in order to achieve new customer and revenue growth targets
  • Handle inbound client calls, qualifies leads and if appropriate grows client relationships at the appropriate levels
  • Collaborate effectively with Business Development Directors, Commercial & Operational Team leaders to learn best Business Development/Managerial Practices
  • Train to take ownership of and effectively manage the latter stages of the sales process with help and guidance from Business Development Directors and Senior Leadership
  • Expand client requests upselling for business unit when possible
  • Develop client call cycle to achieve objectives and sales plan
  • Provide general intelligence on key competitors and uses said intelligence in preparing for client engagement
  • Sell the business unit’s capabilities leveraging differentiation framework
  • Recognize and communicate sales opportunities for other business units
  • Establish, nurture and grow client relationships and manage customer expectations
  • Collaborate with companywide resources to coordinate RFP responses
  • Organize, host and lead client calls and visits
  • Participate in and support Bid Defense Preparation
  • Use SFDC to manage internal communication and document territory and client information as required for the business unit
  • Responsible for Opportunity Management and accurate pipeline forecasting
  • Maintain frequent email and telephone contact with clients to grow and expand business relationships
  • Leverage Marketing, SMEs and Operations Staff to support client discussions and heighten clients’ awareness of BU services
  • Evaluate quotations and provide input to ensure client and company requirements are met
  • Leverage Social Selling techniques and tools to reach clients through digital channels sharing information including but not limited to Worldwide’s services, web conferences, industry meetings, and SME news.

  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain effective internal and external relationships
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and all MS-Office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
  • Prior insides sales and/or sales development experience – three or more years of experience including experience in developing new business, lead nurturing and qualification, prospecting and appointment setting
  • CRO/pharmaceutical industry experience preferred including knowledge of Phase I-IV clinical research and development

Experience with Salesforce or other CRM and sales automation tools including use of auto-dial systems
